OKR DANCE YOUTH COMPANY 

 

The OKR Youth Company and OKR development Company are training and performance programmes for talented and committed young dancers who wish to deepen their tap dance training in a professional and supportive environment. 

Both companies offer participants the opportunity to train closely with members of the OKR Dance professional company, gaining first-hand experience of a professional company, rehearsal process and performance expectations. 

Placement into the Youth Company or Development Company will be determined at the audition based on experience and ability level.

TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT

DANCERS WILL

• Train regularly alongside OKR Dance professional company members as well as special guests. 

• Learn original choreography and traditional repertoire. 

• Develop musicality, performance, and technical excellence. 

• Take part in collaborative sessions, encouraging creativity, teamwork, and artistic voice. 

• Gain experience and skills within improvisation. 

• Gain experience working with and performing alongside a live band. 

• Both the youth and development companies will have the opportunity to take part in the London Tap Dance Festival. 

 

PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES 

• OKR Youth Company members will be given the opportunity to perform at the London Tap Dance Festival Gala. 

• Both the OKR Youth Company and development company will be given the opportunity to perform in a Christmas Showcase. 

• Additional performances and sharing opportunities may arise throughout the year. 

 

ARTISTIC EXPERIENCE 

This programme places a strong emphasis on: 

• Collaboration between dancers and musicians. 

• Exposure to professional rehearsal and performance environments.

• Building confidence, discipline, and artistic identity.

OKR Dance is committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for all young people. All staff working with the Youth Company and Development Company are DBS-checked and follow OKR Dance safeguarding and child protection policies.

The OKR Youth Company and Development Company aim to nurture the next generation of tap dancers, providing meaningful training, performance experience and creative opportunities within a professional company setting.

​​FAQ'S

 

Who can audition?

• Dancers aged between 11-25 years old on the audition date (please contact us for special exceptions). 

• Able to attend compulsory Sunday training sessions 11am-3pm in London, during term time. 

• Understanding that additional rehearsals will be required for performances. These may take place additional days of the week during the holidays. 

 

What are we looking for?

• High-level ability in Tap Dance.

• Ability to improvise.

• Commitment and professional attitude.

• Ability to work individually and in a team.
